Join the West Valley Chorale for a musical tribute to great American composers.
Led by Artistic Director Ken Goodenberger, a long-time Theater Works musical director and performer, the 70 voice Chorale will perform a concert of outstanding American music, exploring the genres of Folk, Classical, Spiritual, Sacred and Broadway Music. Leonard Bernstein, George Cohen, Randall Thompson, Eric Whitacre and Moses Hogan are some of the featured iconic composers. The concert also includes a salute to America’s Armed Forces in a grand patriotic medley!
Christine Kyhn, a well-known Arizona pianist, organist, composer and arranger will accompany the Chorale.
Concert highlights include Randall Thompson’s stirring “Testament of Freedom” with text taken from the writings of Thomas Jefferson, Eric Whitacre’s “Sleep” and two of Moses Hogan’s outstanding spirituals “Battle of Jericho” and “My Soul’s Been Anchored in the Lord.”
The West Valley Chorale is celebrating its 33rd year of providing outstanding chorale music to people in the West Valley. This performance is the first time the Choral has performed at the Theater Works.
