Lynn "Win" Roberts & The AZ Swing Kings team up for a "Tribute to Bob Hope and Radio Stars of the 1940s "
Lynn “Win” Roberts has been performing professionally since the age of 14. He was a featured vocalist and instrumentalist with many bands, including Wayne King, Ted Weems, Guy Lombardo, and Jimmy Dorsey. He began impersonating stars after hearing that he sounded or looked like them. His favorite impersonations are Bob Hope, Red Skelton, and Jimmy Durante. Roberts won a Clony Award for his impersonation and tribute to Bob Hope in 2006; and the Bea Foggleman Lifetime Achievement Award in 2009 in Las Vegas. Lynn’s first performances for the military were in 1966 in Germany and Italy. For the past 16 years, he has been touring the U.S. and Canada doing his tributes.
The AZ Swing Kings is an 18-piece big band which plays many venues in the Phoenix Valley. The group consists of professional all-star musicians who play the authentic sounds of the famous bands who represented the swing and jazz eras. The Swing Kings have recently performed at the Orpheum Theatre in Phoenix for the “Rat Pack Christmas Show,” and for events sponsored by Benevilla and Arizona Broadway Theatre. The band is directed by Lenny King, former creator and leader of the Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, which produced two CDs – and performed throughout the Midwest and in China. King was a music educator for 35 years in Illinois.
