Volunteer with TheaterWorks

We enjoy a community of volunteers who give generously of their time and talents to support and inspire performing arts at TheaterWorks. We offer impactful skilled volunteer opportunities that are vital, enriching, and fun for the people of Peoria, the West Valley, and beyond!

It takes a village! You can help by contributing your time and talent.

As a non-profit organization, we depend upon community involvement to supplement our staff in a myriad of ways. Volunteers play many important roles during the season and throughout the year, including:

  • Ushering, Ticket Takers, Will-Call, Concessions and hand-out programs
  • Assist our staff with special events, auditions and special projects

Ready to join the TheaterWorks family?

To get involved as a volunteer, contact Khris Golder at khrisg@theaterworks.org or (623) 374-7628; or fill out a Volunteer Application to get started!

Volunteers directly contribute to the success of every production and event. In an effort to show our gratitude and appreciation for our volunteers’ time, our volunteers have an opportunity to see the performance they usher and all other theater volunteer hours can be exchanged for complimentary tickets to a TheaterWorks produced performance.

While you are building amazing relationships with your fellow volunteer community, you are building relationships with the members of our community. If you love to share your passion for the arts, we would love to have you on our team!

Leave a Lasting Legacy: Planned Giving

TheaterWorks has flourished for decades thanks to the foresight and generosity of individuals who have included us in their estate plans. Your thoughtful support is vital in ensuring the future of live theater in Peoria, and we want to empower you to make a significant and lasting impact.

There are several ways you can weave TheaterWorks into your legacy through planned giving:

  • Memorialize a Loved One: Have you already finalized your estate plans but still feel compelled to support TheaterWorks? You can request your heirs to honor your memory with a gift in our name. This is a meaningful way to connect your legacy to the power of theater, while ensuring your existing plans remain undisturbed. Additionally, if your estate won’t benefit from tax deductions for charitable contributions, this act of generosity allows your heirs to claim a tax deduction for their donation.
  • Maximize Your IRA or Retirement Plan: Many individuals have unutilized funds remaining in their IRAs or retirement plans. Leaving these funds to your heirs can trigger substantial income and estate taxes. By designating TheaterWorks as a beneficiary, you ensure the entire amount goes directly to support our mission, eliminating these tax burdens. The process is simple – just request a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator.
  • Simplify Your Giving with Account Designation: A straightforward way to support TheaterWorks is by designating us as a beneficiary for a savings or stock account. Financial institutions offer options to structure accounts so that any remaining balance upon your passing automatically transfers to TheaterWorks. This “payable on death” or “transfer on death” designation offers a convenient and revocable option. You retain complete control during your lifetime, with the ability to modify or withdraw funds as needed.
  • Expand Your Impact with Life Insurance: While your existing life insurance policy likely benefits your loved ones, consider including TheaterWorks as an additional beneficiary. This doesn’t require altering your primary beneficiaries – it simply broadens the impact of your policy. Similar to IRA beneficiary changes, requesting a change of beneficiary form from your insurance company is a simple process.

By planning for the future and including TheaterWorks in your estate plans, you’ll be leaving a lasting legacy and ensuring that the magic of live theater continues to inspire and enrich our community for generations to come. We encourage you to discuss these options with your financial advisor to determine the best approach for your specific circumstances. Our Development Department is also here to provide additional information and answer any questions you may have.

We understand that planned giving is a personal decision, and we’re here to help you explore your options. Our Development Manager, Lindsey Murphy, is available to answer any questions you may have and provide personalized guidance.
